Bosch

The blue-line tools, and the specification sheet that goes with them

Bosch appears in six families on this site, which makes it the widest presence in the catalogue alongside its own professional line.

What it is genuinely good at

Publishing figures. The AdvancedLevel 360 states ± 0.4 mm/m for its lines and ± 1.0 mm/m for its plumb point; the EasyDistance 20 states ± 3 mm/m; the 60 cm level states 0.5 mm/m. In families where three of five competitors publish nothing comparable, that is the difference between a tool you can evaluate and one you have to buy first.

Where it is ordinary

Feature count. The consumer Bosch tools are consistently the least featured in their hubs — one horizontal plane where budget lasers claim four, one measurement mode where others claim seven. That is a deliberate position and it costs something real.

The one to look at first

The 60 cm spirit level, which doubles as a rule and has a V-groove for pipes. It is the clearest example of the brand’s approach: fewer claims, more thought about how the tool is actually held.

Every Bosch product we have reviewed

  • Bosch Laser distance meter, 20 m

    20 m range · ± 3 mm/m stated · one-button operation

A deliberately minimal meter: one button, a 20 m range and a stated accuracy of ± 3 mm/m. It is the shortest-range meter in this hub and the easiest to hand to somebody who has never used one.

Best for: Somebody who wants a room measured without learning a tool, and will never need the far end of a car park.
