The brass joints and the plumb bob, a century apart
Two very traditional tools, and one surprisingly detailed listing.
Describing construction. At four euros, the folding rule states multi-dip lacquer, a UV protective film, concealed rivets, hardened steel springs, milled joint plates, brass joints and EC accuracy class III. The Stabila rule at nine times the price states no accuracy class at all.
The plumb bob listing, which states its material and stops — no mass, no line length, on an instrument chosen by weight.
The folding rule. Two meters is short for building work, but the joints are the part that fails and they are the part that is described.
2 m (7 ft) beech · EC class III · brass joints · UV-protected
The cheapest folding rule here and the one with the most stated about its construction: multi-dip lacquer, a UV protective film, concealed rivets, hardened steel springs, milled joint plates and brass joints, marked to EC accuracy class III.
Best for: A first folding rule, or the third one to leave in a different bag.
A plain lacquered brass bob — denser than steel for its size, which means a smaller body for the same settling behavior.
Best for: Dropping a vertical in a tight space, where a bulky bob will not hang free.
