PRODIAMANT Steel long tape, 50 m (164 ft) review
The only tape in this hub that publishes the tension it is specified at — 50 N — on a 13 mm (0.51 in) steel band 50 m (164 ft) long, in an open aluminum frame.
What the figures leave us with The one long tape here that tells you how to use it properly. Fifty newtons is the specification everyone else omits.
Fifty meters of steel, and the only tension figure published in this hub.
What the manufacturer publishes
A steel measuring band for distances, plot layout and site setting-out, stated as suitable for indoor and outdoor use. A tensile figure of 50 N. A hard-wearing open reel housing with an ergonomic anti-slip soft grip. A band width of 13 mm (0.51 in), an aluminum frame and an easy-lock rewind handle for fast, smooth winding. A single-sided metric graduation in black and red, starting at the end of the ring.
What fifty newtons is for
Every long tape stretches under the pull applied to it, and is graduated to be correct at one specific tension. Without that figure, a 50 m (164 ft) measurement is repeatable only by the person who took it, pulling the same way. With it, a tension handle or a spring balance turns the tape into an instrument two people can share. This is the only tape in this hub that states the number.
The trade against fiberglass
Steel does not extend the way fiberglass does, which is why it is the material for setting out. It also kinks: fold a steel band once and the kink is permanent, and a kinked band reads short across the kink forever. And it conducts, which rules it out near anything live. The fiberglass reels here forgive all of that and give up the repeatability.

What it has, and what it lacks
Strengths
Publishes a tension figure, 50 N, which no other tape here does and which is what makes a long steel tape repeatable
Steel rather than fiberglass, so the band does not extend under pull the way a woven one does
Fifty meters, the longest reach in this hub
Aluminum frame with an easy-lock rewind grip
Scale starting at the end of the ring, so the zero is defined
Compromises
A steel band kinks permanently if it is folded, and 50 m (164 ft) of it is easy to fold by accident
Steel conducts — a long steel tape near live equipment is a hazard the fiberglass tapes do not have
The most expensive tape here, and not found on the American market

What gets asked here
Why does a stated tension matter?
A long tape is only accurate at the pull it was graduated at. Fifty newtons is roughly five kilograms of pull. Knowing the figure is what lets two measurements of the same run agree — and this is the only tape here that publishes one.
Steel or fiberglass for a long tape?
Steel is dimensionally stable and repeatable; fiberglass is forgiving, non-conductive and survives being trodden on. For setting out that has to be right, steel. For rough garden and site work, fiberglass.
Where does the scale start?
PRODIAMANT states the graduation begins at the end of the ring, which defines the zero point — worth knowing before the first measurement rather than after.

30 m (98 ft) · 12.9 mm (0.51 in) fiberglass blade · open reel · imperial and metric
A 30 m (98 ft) open-reel tape on a vinyl-coated fiberglass band, for the distances a pocket tape cannot reach. Fiberglass does not conduct and does not kink, and it does stretch.
Best for: Garden, plot and site layout, where 30 m (98 ft) matters more than the last millimeter.
5 m (16 ft) × 19 mm (0.75 in) steel blade · lever lock · impact-resistant case
A plain 5 m steel tape with a 19 mm (0.75 in) blade and a lever lock, at the lowest price in this hub. No standout figure is published — as with every tape here.
Best for: The tape to keep in the kitchen drawer, in the car, or anywhere losing it costs nothing.
