Three lamps find wiring faults; they do not find a bad earth · review
Wigearss Socket tester with RCD test and LCD review
A socket tester with an LCD showing the actual voltage, six wiring fault indications, an RCD trip test and a leakage measurement — the fullest function list in this hub, at the lowest price.
What the figures leave us with The most capable socket tester here and the cheapest. The LCD is what makes it worth carrying over a three-lamp unit.
A socket tester that measures as well as indicates.
What the manufacturer publishes
Socket wiring sequence testing, phase-to-neutral voltage measurement, leakage measurement, and indication of six types of fault. An LCD display showing clearly whether the socket is correctly wired. Battery-powered, plug-in operation described as usable by non-specialists.
The three-lamp tester and what it leaves out
A classic socket tester is three neon lamps and a legend, and it finds reversed conductors and a missing earth in two seconds. What it cannot do is tell you the supply voltage, quantify a leakage, or distinguish a good earth from a poor one. This one adds the first two.
What no socket tester can do
Judge the earth. A connection with tens of ohms of resistance lights the same lamp as one with a fraction of an ohm, and only the second will clear a fault. That measurement belongs to a loop impedance tester and to the person qualified to interpret it.

What gets asked here
What can a socket tester not tell me?
The quality of the earth. A high-resistance earth connection still lights the lamp, and the tester cannot distinguish it from a good one. That measurement needs a loop impedance tester, which is a different instrument.
What does the RCD test do?
It draws a small deliberate fault current to make the RCD trip, confirming the device operates. Note that it will disconnect the circuit — and possibly others — so it is not a test to run casually on a working installation.
Why does the voltage display matter?
A lamp pattern says the wiring is correct. A number says whether the supply is at 230 V or sagging, which is a different fault and one a pattern cannot show.

Checking a whole property quickly, where reading the actual voltage saves a second trip with a multimeter.
What buyers actually choose
Amazon reports what buyers took in the month before this page was last checked: at least 50.
The figure is a floor, rounded by Amazon, and read through Keepa — it says what buyers picked, not what a maker claims.

Socket tester with RCD trip · plus a 12–1000 V contactless pen · auto power-off
A two-piece kit: a socket tester with RCD trip function and a separate non-contact voltage pen covering 12 to 1000 V, with automatic power-off after three minutes.
Best for: Equipping someone from nothing, where owning both tools matters more than owning the better one of each.
