Proster

DC current and dual-channel temperature

Two instruments that both measure something most of their competitors cannot.

What it is genuinely good at

The clamp reads direct current, which an AC-only transformer clamp reads as zero — a silent failure rather than an error. That makes it the tool for photovoltaic and battery work, which is exactly how it is positioned.

The thermometer displays T1, T2 and T1−T2, so a flow-and-return or an across-the-exchanger measurement is read directly rather than subtracted between two readings taken at different moments.

Where it is ordinary

Neither publishes a measurement category, and the clamp does not state its jaw opening — the figure that decides whether it fits your cable.

The one to look at first

The dual-channel thermometer. Almost every practical temperature question is a difference.

Every Proster product we have reviewed

  • Proster AC/DC clamp meter, 800 A

    800 A AC and DC · True RMS · 6000 counts · 5-in-1

An 800 A AC and DC clamp with true-RMS and 6000 counts, positioned by its maker for solar and balcony photovoltaic work — which is where the DC capability earns its keep.

Best for: Solar and battery work, where the current is direct and an AC-only clamp reads nothing at all.
