A deliberately minimal meter: one button, a 20 m (66 ft) range and a stated accuracy of ± 3 mm (0.12 in)/m. It is the shortest-range meter in this hub and the easiest to hand to somebody who has never used one.

What twenty meters actually covers
A 20 m (66 ft) range covers a room, a corridor, a garden fence and most of a house frontage. It does not cover a plot boundary or a warehouse, and there is no reserve: at the limit the meter stops rather than degrading. Every other meter in this hub reaches at least twice as far, and two of them reach five times as far for less than double the price.
The one-button decision
Every additional mode on a laser meter is a state the tool can be left in. A meter set to area mode, handed to somebody else, gives a number that is not a distance — and it is the single most common reason a reading is wrong. Bosch removed the possibility. That is a genuine feature for a shared tool, and a genuine limitation for a working one.

A flat ± 3 mm (0.12 in) is the same error at any distance. A figure per meter grows with the measurement. Bosch states ± 3 mm (0.12 in)/m for this model; read it as an error that scales with the distance measured, and check the manual supplied with your own unit.
