PeakTech

The category and the voltage, printed together

Across ten electrical instruments on this site, two listings publish a complete measurement category. PeakTech wrote both.

What it is genuinely good at

Safety specifications. The P 1094 two-pole tester states CAT III 400 V AC/DC and IP54; the P 1030 detector states CAT III 1000 V; the P 2695 insulation tester states CAT III 1000 V and its four test voltages. Fluke and BENNING listings on this same site state none of those.

Where it is ordinary

Presentation and availability. Several PeakTech references here are absent from the British or American stores, and the listings are terse — specifications without much explanation of what they mean.

The one to look at first

The P 2695 insulation tester, for publishing all four of its test voltages. That is the specification an insulation tester is defined by, and it is the one most listings in that hub leave out.

  • PeakTech P 7610 high-voltage instrument fuse alongside a multimeter

    PeakTech Fast-acting fuse, 0.5 A, 6.3 × 32 mm (0.25 × 1.26 in)

    The instrument-grade format: 6.3 × 32 mm (0.25 × 1.26 in) at a rated 690 V, super fast-acting, which is what a properly specified meter current input takes.

    Stated dimension or range
    6.3 × 32 mm (0.25 × 1.26 in)
    Fuse rating
    500 mA · 690 V rated · super fast-acting (FF)
    • A 690 V rating, far above the 250 V of the general-purpose fuses here
    • The 6.3 × 32 mm (0.25 × 1.26 in) format used by instrument current inputs
    • One value only — 500 mA, which fits the low current range and not the 10 A input

Best for: The meter whose manual specifies exactly this — and it should be checked, not assumed.

  • PeakTech TKS-4 test leads coiled, showing their angled banana plugs and probe tips

PeakTech Test leads, 120 cm (47.2 in), 4 mm (0.16 in) banana

A plain replacement pair for any meter with 4 mm (0.16 in) sockets, with insulated angled plugs and 18 mm (0.71 in) tips — and no published category rating, unlike the rated American sets on this shelf.

    • No measurement category or voltage rating published

Best for: Replacing the leads that came with a meter, when the insulation has started to crack.
